Category Listings

Categories provide a heirarchial structure to hold site content such as Feature Articles and Products.

Category detail pages (like this one) are comprised of 2 sections. The 'detailContainer' area (this area) displays the category detail content which includes a Title, optional image and this text block.

Categories hold things -- they hold other categories (subcategories) and other content like feature articles, products, events, etc. You set what type of content the Category can hold with the "Include Template" field. Subcategories and Content are displayed below the detailContainer. An optional line separates the detail information from the listings below.

Header Display Parameters

The following Cateogry Parameters may be entered in the Template Parameters field of the category to control how the category header (this area) is displayed:

• showTitle=0
  This parameter will turn off the Cateogry Title in the detail header.
  
• topline=thickline|thinline|other
  This parameter controls the line that separates the Category detail header and the content listings below. If nothing is entered, no line will display. Turn the line on by setting topline to a line style like thickLine, thinLine or some other custom line style.

Content Listings

Categories can list both subcategories and content. Content is a generic term that means anything listed that's not a subcategory such as Feature Articles, Products, Event listings, etc.

The number of colums that subcategories and content display in and which comes first are set by category form fields. Other parameters can be passed in the Template Parameters field to allow even greater control over the listings. Available parameters are described in the pages below:
